Have you ever tried to stop someone from leaving because you thought that’s what a loving person would do? Our society teaches that love means fixing, rescuing, and taking control — even when our soul or our inner child is rebelling against the unnatural expectations.

But real love allows freedom. It doesn’t control. It doesn’t cling. And it certainly doesn’t ask you to override anyone’s boundaries in the name of being “a good partner.”

We can allow other people walk their path — even when it makes us uncomfortable. That is love, too.
